Legacy ledger migration, intercompany clean-up and tax remediation for a subsidiary group
Moving a three-entity subsidiary group within a major Australian infrastructure group off its legacy ledger and onto the group ERP, while running its close, intercompany and year-end.
Experience
- Held financial controller responsibility for a three-entity subsidiary group: month-end close, balance sheet integrity, intercompany reconciliation, year-end and tax support across the subsidiary's own ledger and the group ERP.
- Led subsidiary finance through the wind-up of its standalone legacy GL and migration onto JD Edwards at 30 June 2026, removing a monthly intercompany cycle and a one-month reporting lag.
- Reconciled a tens-of-millions intercompany loan monthly, designed the parking and clearing logic that kept both ledgers aligned, and delivered a final year-end reconciliation with no unresolved items.
- Found PAYG transfers being captured twice across two journal streams, corrected both entities and changed the process so it cannot recur.
- Finance point of contact for Group Tax and the external tax review on the year-end income tax return: traced a multi-million provision across entities to close audit queries, and showed an apparent tax variance was a presentation split, avoiding an unnecessary posting.
- Prepared and reviewed complex journals, including fixed asset transfers, a tens-of-millions intercompany dividend, provision reclassifications and tax corrections.
- Used AI tools to speed up intercompany matching (one-to-one, group and combination matches with tolerances) and journal balance checks.
- Managed the subsidiary finance team: a finance manager, senior management accountant and assistant accountant.
